An Important Jewish community settled in Lecce between the XVth and XVIth century, a very wealthy trading period for the town.
Unfortunately the anti Jewish laws issued by Ferdinand I and Charles V made pogroms begin and the leccese Jewish community was persecuted and forced to leave Salento.
For this reason today there are no material evidences of the Jewish presence in town, but in our tour we depict all the places and areas that hosted the jewish community five centuries ago.
Visiting those places you will understand the important role that the jewish community had in the economic growth of the town during the early renaissance period.
Itinerary: Old San Martino Jewry, St.Oronzo square, Holy Cross Basilica, Personè Palace, Adorno Palace, della Sinagoga street, Abramo Balmes street and the Greek church (extra fee).
